The merchant of venice was problably written in either 1596 or 1597 by William Shakespeare. It's a basic plot out line, with the characters of the merchant, the poor suitor , the fair lady, and the villainous jew. Shakespeare borrowed several details, such as the caskets that Portia in all her situors. Portia was a heroin and the unforgetable villain Shylock elevate Shakespeare play to a higher level. The genre of this play is a comedy, the conflict of this play is that the merchant is that defaults on a loan  he borrowed form Shylock,  wherein he promises to sacrifice a pound of flesh. The symbols of this play is the pund flesh, leah's ring and the three caskets. This play was a great hit in Shakespeare career and he continued writting more and more plays, and those plays influenced others play writters , but Shakespeare is know as the best play writter of the worls till now.
